The Training Program of Integrative Structural Biology PhD Program comprises:
- Lectures and practical courses at both universities (University of Vienna and Medical University of Vienna)
- The seminar series “Modern Concepts“ in structural biology
- Work in Progress (WiP) Seminars
- PhD Program Recess
The training program will be carried out in the first three months of the PhD (Click here for the first teaching program of the PhD Program – 2016).
Our teaching program is a combination of lectures and practical exercises covering the fundamental principles and techniques of structural biology. This creates a common foundation of knowledge and skills shared by all the students in the program, which is then further developed and enriched through more individualized training in advanced aspects of their specific biological system of interest.
Students are of course welcome to take other relevant courses at either of the two Universities.
Here is the link to the courses of the Master’s program in structural biology of the University of Vienna. Courses in red are not included in the PhD Program training. Click on the course names in the pdf document for further information.
Course themes include:
Biochemical and biophysical characterization and validation approaches
Exploring protein structure
Theory and practice of biomolecular structure determination and characterization
Structural computational biophysics
Communicating structural biology research
Ethics in Science
Planning and project management
